Timo Scheider gana su segundo DTM

Timo Scheider ha conseguido el título que lo acredita campeón del DTM, renovando un año más su condición de número uno en esta competición. Supone el tercer campeonato consecutivo para Audi.

Los primeros puestos de la clasificación general del Campeonato Alemán de Turismos se presentaban muy apretados. Scheider, campeón del DTM en 2008, era el favorito para alzarse con la victoria en la última carrera de la temporada y el alemán no ha fallado.
El segundo puesto que ha conseguido en Hockenheim ha sido suficiente para sumar los puntos necesarios para renovar su título de campeón del DTM y poner a Audi en la historia, al ser el primer constructor que desde la creación de éste en 1984, se alza con el título por tercera vez consecutiva.

WDR Sport Inside - Die finanzielle Lage von Schalke 04 und Bayern München

Interessante WDR Sport Inside Sendung über die finanziellen Verbindlichkeiten der Bundesligaclubs. Der Fokus in dem Bericht liegt auf Schalke 04 und unseren Bayern.

Vieles ist sicherlich nachdenkenswert. Allerdings hat man durch die Abfolge in dem Bericht das Gefühl, Schalke und Bayern wären in ähnlichen Situationen. Da sind sicherlich Unterschiede wie Tag und Nacht vorhanden, das hätte man durchaus betonen müssen. Dennoch ist natürlich nicht von der Hand zu weisen, dass die Allianz Arena, vor allem nach dem Ausstieg der 59er aus der Stadion GmbH, eine große finanzielle Belastung für uns ist. Sicherlich auch richtig ist, dass die Verluste der Stadion GmbH nicht in den Bilanzen des Vereins auftauchen. Allerdings sind diese 7 Millionen Verlust pro Jahr nichts existenzgefährdendes für uns. Bei anderen Vereinen sieht das sicherlich ganz anders aus.

Der geplante Audi-Deal wird auch nicht zu Unrecht kritisiert. Allerdings auch eher unter moralischen Gesichtspunkten, denn aus betriebswirtschaftlichen. Natürlich ist es erschreckend Uli Hoeneß im Jahr 2006 in dem Bericht reden zu hören von einer jungen Mannschaft, welche aufgebaut werden soll, ohne verrückte Summen auszugeben. Wenn man sich vor Augen hält, was seitdem bis jetzt an Geld für Stars ausgegeben wurde, muss man sich abermals fragen, was wollen die Herren in unserer Führungsetage eigentlich? Wissen sie das selbst überhaupt? De facto würden die 100 Millionen von Audi allerdings natürlich nichts anderes tun, als die kritisierten Verluste der Stadion GmbH geringer ausfallen zu lassen.

Damit sind wir aber natürlich nur in einer Lage, in der Uli Hoeneß uns garantiert nicht gern sieht, auch wenn das nach außen hin anders kommuniziert wird. Vereinsanteile zur Tilgung von Verbindlichkeiten zu verkaufen, ich denke Uli Hoeneß wäre bei dem Gedanken vor ein paar Jahren noch jedem an die Gurgel gesprungen, der diesen Gedanken ausspricht. Nur muss man dann ganz ehrlich sagen: Das hätten die Herren sich vorher überlegen müssen. Es ist sicherlich nicht unrichtig, was da im Bericht anklingt, dass sich zu viele Leute vom schönen Schein der neuen Stadionwelt haben blenden lassen. Und jetzt ist man in einem Mechanismus drin, den keiner wirklich gewollt hat für den FC Bayern München.

Aber es sei nochmal betont: Es geht hier nicht um unsere Existenz, wie etwa bei Schalke 04. Es geht bei uns “nur” um Handlungsfreiheit und Unabhängigkeit. Etwas, das die Fanseele – auch meine – natürlich sehr umtreibt. Niemand will dabei zusehen müssen, wie Vereinsanteile an Wirtschaftsunternehmen veräußert werden. Auch nicht schleichend Stück für Stück. Denn machen wir uns nichts vor. Selbst wenn die Gegenleistung des Vereins klar formuliert ist und sich in diesen Formulierungen auf Werbemaßnahmen und Cooperationen beschränkt, so ist doch klar, dass bei den Summen die da im Spiel sind, auch Einflussnahmen weit über den Sponsoringbereich hinaus stattfinden. Und da hört der Spaß definitiv auf.

Und die Frage muss erlaubt sein: Wo hört es auf? 10 % für adidas…okay. Adidas passt ja auch ganz gut zu uns und es ist eine sehr lange und enge Zusammenarbeit. 10 % für Audi? Keine Ahnung ob man zur Tilgung von Verbindlichkeiten in den sauren Apfel beißen muss. Gefühlt schmerzt es sehr. Nun ja, immerhin ist Audi ein recht seriöses Unternehmen. Mit Schmerzen würde man es vielleicht grad noch so aushalten. Aber was dann? 10 % an die Telekom? Weils ja auch so ein enger Partner ist? Und danach? 10 % an wen auch immer? Weil sich die Leute mitlerweile nach dieser Salamischeibentaktik damit abgefunden haben und man es machen kann und dadurch wieder frisches Geld hat? Und was dann? Die lästige 50 + 1 Regel endgültig abschaffen, weil man sonst nur noch 9 % verkaufen könnte?

Holzauge sei wachsam kann ich nur sagen. Wir werden die Dinge genauestens beobachten. Ich für meinen Teil jedenfalls bin sehr schwer mit Salamischeibentaktiken ruhig zu stellen.

O nome é Audi A1, mas pode chamar de anti-Mini

Audi A1 está próximo do lançamento (Fotos:carmagazine.co.uk)

A BMW nada de braçadas já há alguns anos no segmento de carros descolados desde que adquiriu o Mini. A Audi, uma das maiores concorrentes da BMW quer mudar esta realidade.

E para isso prepara o A1, que será o menor modelo da marca e será fabricado apenas com três portas. O carro foi flagrado recentemente em uma pista de testes. A imprensa especializada cogitou até que o projeto havia sido abandonado pela fabricante, mas pelo que se vê ele está praticamente pronto.

NO BRASIL E COM MOTOR FLEX

O A1 deve ser lançado no próximo Salão de Genebra, em 2010. Acredita-se que ele chegará ao Brasil pouco tempo depois. Falam até que o carro virá para cá com motor flex, capaz de rodar com álcool ou gasolina. Vamos esperar para ver.

LOS ANGELES (October 14, 2009)—AFI FEST 2009 presented by Audi today announced the complete lineup of films for the 23rd edition of the Festival, including the Closing Night Gala, Centerpiece Screening, Tributes and Special Presentations.

The Weinstein Company’s A SINGLE MAN has been selected as the AFI FEST Closing Night Gala presentation. A SINGLE MAN will make its US Premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Thursday, November 5, 2009.

Sony Pictures Classics’ THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS has been selected as AFI FEST’s Centerpiece Screening Gala presentation. THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS will make its US Premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Monday, November 2, 2009.

The Closing Night Gala presentation of A SINGLE MAN features the directorial debut of fashion designer Tom Ford from his script adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s acclaimed novel. The film follows a day in the life of a gay British college professor in Los Angeles as he attempts to cope with the death of his partner. Ford’s work helming the project and Colin Firth’s lead performance in the film have received critical acclaim following screenings at the Venice and Toronto film festivals. Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode and Ginnifer Goodwin also star in the film. The Weinstein Company release is due in theaters on December 11.

Ford, Firth and Moore are scheduled to attend.

“It is exciting to champion a talented artist like Tom Ford as he moves beyond the boundaries of one medium into another. In A SINGLE MAN, he delivers an elegant and beautiful personal story that will resonate with all audience members“ said AFI FEST Artistic Director Rose Kuo.

The Centerpiece Screening Gala presentation features the latest work by director Terry Gilliam. THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS follows the leader of a traveling theater troupe who, having made a deal with the devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations. The film stars Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Heath Ledger in his final role. The Sony Pictures Classics release is due in theaters stateside on December 25.

Gilliam and Plummer are scheduled to attend.

“The mind-altering, looking-glass world that Terry Gilliam creates in THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS,” notes Director of Programming Robert Koehler, “is like a model for his ideal cinema, in which anything can happen and all rules are broken. If audiences thought that THE DARK KNIGHT was their last glimpse of Heath Ledger, then what Ledger brings to Gilliam’s fantasy-adventure will surprise them.”

AFI FEST has selected actors Christopher Plummer and Viggo Mortensen to receive tributes at this year’s Festival. Sponsored by the Skirball Cultural Center, Plummer’s tribute event will precede the screening of his film THE LAST STATION on Tuesday, November 3. Mortensen’s tribute will precede the US Premiere of the film THE ROAD on Wednesday, November 4. Both Tributes will take place at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

One of the world’s most respected actors, Plummer has won two Tony Awards (for CYRANO and BARRYMORE), three Drama Desk Awards, the National Arts Club Medal and two Emmys. He was a leading member of  Laurence Olivier’s Royal National Theatre and Peter Hall’s Royal  Shakespeare Company. Since appearing in Sidney Lumet’s STAGE STRUCK (1958), his more than 100 films have included WIND ACROSS THE  EVERGLADES (1958), THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965), WATERLOO (1970) and TWELVE MONKEYS (1995), THE INSIDER (1999), A BEAUTIFUL MIND (2001), SYRIANA (2005) and INSIDE MAN (2006). He stars as Leo Tolstoy in THE LAST STATION and plays the title role in THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS.

John Hillcoat THE ROAD is adapted from the acclaimed novel by Cormac McCarthy, THE ROAD stars Mortensen as a father making his way with his young son across the scorched landscape of a post-apocalyptic world. Directed by Hillcoat from a script by Joe Penhall, the film also stars Charlize Theron, Robert Duvall, Guy Pearce and Molly Parker. The Weinstein Company release is due in theaters November 25.

From his debut in Peter Weir’s WITNESS (1985) to his signature role of Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, Mortensen’s career has been highlighted by intensely stunning portrayals of men of strict and uncompromising character dealing with a shifting moral universe. Notable films include Sean Penn’s INDIAN RUNNER (1991), Gregory Widen’s THE PROPHECY (1995), Ridley Scott’s G.I. JANE, Tony Goldwyn’s A WALK ON THE MOON (1999), David Cronenberg’s A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE (2005) and EASTERN PROMISES (2007)—for which he received Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations—and Ed Harris’ APPALOOSA (2008).

“Viggo Mortensen and Christopher Plummer are two actors and film artists of the highest order,” said Kuo. “They share that rare trait of being looked up to by audiences and film fans around the world as well as being greatly respected by their peers.”

Other highlights among the complete film schedule announced today include Jonathan Demme’s music documentary NEIL YOUNG TRUNK SHOW (with Demme and Young confirmed to attend) and the screening of two films connected by legendary art director and longtime AFI Conservatory Distinguished Lecturer Robert Boyle, who turned 100 on October 10. Those films are AFI Conservatory Alumnus Daniel Raim’s (Production  Design ’99) documentary SOMETHING’S GONNA LIVE and Alfred Hitchcock’s classic NORTH BY NORTHWEST, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

A follow-up to Raim’s Oscar-nominated documentary, THE MAN ON LINCOLN’S NOSE, SOMETHING’S GONNA LIVE profiles Boyle (THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, THE BIRDS) and renowned art directors Henry Bumstead (TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, THE STING), Harold Michelson (STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, CATCH-22) and Albert Nozaki (THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS), as well as master cinematographers Conrad Hall (IN COLD BLOOD, BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID) and Haskell Wexler (WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?, IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT). On Monday, November 2, AFI FEST, in conjunction with Warner Home Video will present a special screening of Hitchcock’s NORTH BY NORTHWEST. The first Hitchcock film to be released on Blu-ray, the film has been restored and remastered for its 50th anniversary. As part of the Gala event, director William Friedkin will attend to moderate a Q&A with Boyle and the film’s stars Eva Marie Saint and Martin Landau.

Koehler noted, “In our 23rd year, our programming seeks to shine a light on an international cinema landscape filled with brilliant young filmmakers forging fresh, unexpected pathways, documentarians on a quest for truth, and a fascinating survey of stop-motion animation (FANTASTIC MR. Enhancing the AFI FEST/American Film Market alliance, the final two days of AF FEST (November 6-7) will screen at the Laemmle’s Monica 4-plex, 1332 2nd Street, Santa Monica, in close proximity to AFM headquartered activity.

AFI FEST 2009’s overall lineup will showcase 67 features (54 narrative, 13 documentary) and 26 shorts for a total of 93 films from 32 countries.

The Festival is headquartered at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Truth In 24

Last night I watched the best documentary that I have seen to date. “Truth In 24″. I love (and favour) Japanese auto culture/tuning/vehicles more than any other, but on the same token I also love racing. Well, mainly just open-wheel and road events. So with that, preference of manufacturers and the nationality of drivers and/or machines is cancelled out. Watching races and having been to a couple so far is awesome. Never did I actually know what really went into the preparation, the event itself, and the pain and hardships that goes into it until I watched this film. And there is no better team to document that than the most meticulous and dedicated of them all, especially coming from one of the most revered races on the whole planet. In particular, the 2008 24 Heures is the subject of documentation here – the battle between Audi’s older TDI machine and Peugot’s newer rivaling machine.  The film was extremely thorough, detailed, intense, and raw – everything that I treasure when it comes to motorsports. And to see that captured in such a presentation as this is simply amazing. To see the side that you do not get to see while watching the race in person behind the wall or on a television screen utterly changes your perspective. You get a true sense of the toll that the 24 Hours of Le Mans takes on every person that is involved in it. But you also get to see how awesomely rewarding it is. And since watching this film last night, my whole outlook on racing and the passion behind motorsports has transformed. If you are a nut about racing then I highly, highly suggest you find a way to watch this. Very well worth the hour and a half that I spent watching it. Hell, I may watch it again tonight.

Other than that, I accomplished a lot today. Took the necessary steps to ensure that I will be going back to school come January. Also did some other things on my to-do list. Finished the day off perfectly with smoking a great cigar (Perdomo Lot 23) while hanging with a couple of my good friends.

Also, make sure to check out Subaru’s GT300 Legacy. That is one mean machine!

Eins, zwei, drei, quattro

In 1980, Audi a prezentat primul sau model dotat cu sistem quattro si a initiat, prin victoriile sale in cursele de raliuri, o noua etapa in istoria tractiunii. Fiecare al patrulea client Audi cumpara un model bazat pe sistemul de tractiune quattro.

Ce este sistemul quattro si cum functioneaza? Quattro este un sistem de tractiune integrala permanenta care ofera mai multa mobilitate, siguranta si placere in timpul conducerii masinii, in orice conditii de drum (spun cei de la Audi). Principiul de functionare este simplu: patru roti motrice, actionate de blocul motor (in loc de doua in fata sau in spate) permit o accelerare optima si un nivel ridicat de manevrabilitate. In acelasi timp, in functie de drum si de situatie, sistemul quattro transmite forta de tractiune pe puntea spate sau pe puntea fata. In special pe portiuni de drum alunecoase, sistemul asigura o tractiune sporita si o deplasare mai sigura – chiar si in situatiile in care masinile cu doar doua roti motrice nu mai pot inainta.

Sistemul quattro imparte in functie de necesitate intre 33% si 66% din forta de tractiune pe una din punti – fata sau spate. Daca, de exemplu, tractiunea este mai buna pe puntea fata decat pe puntea spate, atunci 60% din forta de tractiune este distribuita puntii fata, restul celei din spate. Daca tractiunea pe puntea fata scade si, in schimb, creste tractiunea pe puntea spate, distributia fortei de tractiune se inverseaza.

Gandindu-ma la exemple de utilizare eficienta a tractiunii integrale, vad intrarea pe o portiune cu zapada, caz in care aderenta scade si atunci puntea spate aflata inca sa zicem pe pietris impinge masina, urmata de iesirea de pe zapada, caz in care aderenta e mult mai mare pe pietris si atunci puntea fata trage masina. Similar pentru situatii zapada-gheata. Sau asfalt-ulei.

Ce mai spune Audi: tehnologia inovatoare quattro reprezinta un avantaj evident in privinta tractiunii, acceleratiei, vitezei in curbe si a deplasarii pe drum drept, oferind in plus o siguranta activa sporita. Pentru ca toate cele patru roti sunt motrice, masina este deosebit de sigura la manevrare, chiar si in conditii meteorologice nefavorabile si in conditii de drum diferite.

Cum va dezvolta Audi in viitor sistemul quattro? Lucrand la un sistem quattro cu diferential sport reglat electronic asa incat sa distribuie forta de tractiune in mod variabil intre cele doua roti din spate, prevenindu-se astfel subvirarea in cazul conducerii rapide in curbe si schimbarea centrului de greutate prin stabilizarea masinii. Lucru care va duce la o accelerare marita in curbe si o reducere semnificativa a sarcinilor soferului.
